Every network has its own limit
The compressor tries JPEG quality 92% first and lowers it only as far as it must, never below 60%. If that is not enough, it makes the photo smaller in pixels instead.
Profile posts and company page posts both take photos up to 5 MB. A feed photo is shown much smaller than that, so a compressed file rarely looks different.
X
5 MBX takes photos up to 5 MB in a post and refuses anything bigger. It re-compresses every photo it accepts, so start from a clean JPEG under the limit.
TikTok
10 MBPhoto carousels take each photo up to 10 MB. Foliwo checks every photo against it before it publishes.
Page posts take photos up to 4 MB, and stories allow more. Compress for the post and the same file works in a story too.
Feed posts and stories both take photos up to 8 MB. Instagram resizes every photo for the feed, so a huge original only adds upload time.
Threads
8 MBThreads takes photos up to 8 MB each, in a single post or a carousel.
Pins and carousels take photos up to 10 MB in Foliwo. Pinterest itself allows larger files, but a Pin is shown far smaller than that.
Bluesky
976 KBBluesky has the tightest limit of any network: 976 KB per photo, just under 1,000,000 bytes. Most phone photos need compressing before Bluesky takes them.
Mastodon
10 MBEach Mastodon server sets its own limit. Foliwo keeps photos under 10 MB, which servers on the default settings accept.
Telegram

Discord
