How it shows
Every network shows a post differently
The same text and photo land differently on each one: where the image goes, how it is cropped and where the text is cut.
LinkedIn shows the text above the image and folds a long post behind “…see more”, so the first two lines decide whether anyone reads on. Up to 10 images post together.
X
1:1X shows up to 4 images in a grid under the text and crops each one to fit its tile, so keep the subject in the middle. Every link counts as 23 characters.
TikTok
1:1A TikTok photo post is a slideshow of up to 35 images people swipe through, with the caption over the bottom of the screen, so the first words carry it.
Facebook puts the text above the photo and folds a long post behind “See more”. Up to 10 photos post together and show as a collage.
Instagram shows the image first and the caption under it, cut after the first line or so with “…more”. Feed images must be between 3:4 to 1.91:1; 4:5 fills the most screen. Up to 10 images make a carousel, and a caption takes up to 5 hashtags.
Threads
4:5Threads shows the text first and the images under it, up to 10, which people swipe through when there are several.
A Pin is one image, best at 2:3, with the description under it. Add more images and it becomes a carousel Pin of up to 5.
Bluesky
1:1Bluesky shows up to 4 images in a grid under the text. It counts what you see, so any emoji counts as one character.
Mastodon
1:1Mastodon shows up to 4 images under the text. 500 characters is the default; some servers allow more.
Telegram
1:1Telegram shows the photo with the text under it, and up to 10 photos post as an album. A photo takes a shorter caption than a text message, so Foliwo sends longer text as its own message.
Discord
1:1Discord shows the message and then its images, up to 10 in one message, in the channel you pick.
Google Business Profile
4:3An update on your Business Profile takes one photo, best at 4:3, and shows where people find you on Google Search and Maps.
