Every network counts engagement differently
Each network has its own interactions and shows its own audience numbers. This is what each one gives you to work with.
LinkedIn shows impressions and members reached on your own posts, and most reports use the rate by impressions. Clicks are only visible to the author and to Page admins.
X (Twitter)
X’s own post analytics divides engagements by impressions and counts every click on the post, including opening it or the profile, so its rate runs higher than one worked out from likes, replies, reposts, quotes and bookmarks. The views under a post are its impressions.
TikTok
TikTok shows views on every video, so the rate by views is the one brands usually ask for. Likes, comments, shares and favorites are public on the video, so you can work out anyone’s rate from them.
YouTube
On YouTube the rate by views is the usual measure, because most views come from people who are not subscribed. Likes and comments are on the video; shares are in YouTube Studio.
Facebook shows reactions, comments and shares under a post. Reach, views and clicks are in your Page’s insights, and the rate by reach is the fairer measure, since few followers see any one post.
Instagram counts likes, comments, shares and saves as a post’s interactions. Accounts reached and views are on professional accounts only, under View insights, and you still see your own like counts when you hide them from others.
Threads
Threads shows likes, replies, reposts and quotes on every post, and views in your insights, so you can work out the rate by followers and by views.
On Pinterest saves and clicks matter more than likes. Your Pin stats show impressions, saves, Pin clicks and outbound clicks, and the rate is usually measured against impressions.
Bluesky
Bluesky shows no views or impressions, so the rate by followers is the only one you can work out. Likes, replies, reposts and quotes are public on every post, yours or anyone else’s.
Mastodon
Mastodon shows no views either, so the rate is by followers. Its interactions are favourites, boosts and replies, and a remote server may show lower counts when it has not seen every interaction.
Telegram
Telegram shows views under every channel post, so you can compare interactions with views as well as with subscribers. Comments need a discussion group linked to the channel.
